Microsoft 365 Training for an NHS Trust

We provided training over a 2 year contract to help to improve skills and understanding in Microsoft 365 applications.  We provided training both Live Online and in-person training in Southampton.

The training programme provided a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft 365, enabling learners to work confidently and productively across the modern workplace. This included dedicated training on key collaboration and productivity tools such as Microsoft Forms, Microsoft Planner and Microsoft To Do, helping participants streamline task management, improve teamwork and make better use of digital workflows.

One challenge was making sure clinical staff could step away from their shifts to attend the courses. To address this, we offered sessions in half-day formats, with both morning and afternoon options to support attendance.

NHS staff also received in‑depth training across the core Microsoft Office applicationsWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and OneNote. Courses were delivered at introduction, intermediate, and advanced levels, ensuring individuals could progress at their own pace while building strong, practical skills. From creating professional documents and presentations, through to advanced data analysis and efficient email and task management.

What truly set this programme apart was the post‑course support provided which the NHS staff embraced with questions and Teams support calls which ensured they could apply their new knowledge. After delivery, we continued to support individuals as they applied their new skills in the workplace, answering questions, reinforcing learning and helping them confidently implement what they had learned. This ongoing support ensured the training had lasting impact, turning knowledge into practical, measurable improvements in day‑to‑day productivity.

Preparing a UK Charity for a Microsoft 365 Rollout

TCS Training worked closely with a UK charity to support the successful rollout of Microsoft 365, ensuring staff were fully prepared for the change to a modern, cloud‑based way of working. The charity’s priority was to minimise disruption, build confidence ahead of the rollout and ensure teams understood not only what was changing, but why and how it would impact their day‑to‑day work.

Pre‑Rollout Training: “What’s Coming”

Ahead of the Microsoft 365 rollout, TCS Training designed and delivered bespoke training sessions focused on “what’s coming”. These sessions were carefully tailored to the charity’s environment and addressed key concerns around change, new ways of working and the move to cloud‑based tools.

The pre‑rollout training provided staff with a high‑level introduction to Microsoft 365, setting clear expectations and highlighting the benefits of the new platform. It helped users understand how tools such as Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint would enhance or replace existing ways of working. This early engagement played a key role in reducing uncertainty, increasing acceptance of the change, and encouraging staff to actively collaborate together on shared documents from an early stage.

Post‑Rollout Training: Working in the Cloud

Following the rollout, targeted training was delivered to different teams, focusing on how to work effectively in a cloud‑based environment. Practical, role‑based sessions showed staff how to collaborate, share files securely and manage information using Microsoft 365 tools in a way that aligned with the charity’s operational needs.

By combining pre‑rollout awareness training with practical post‑rollout support, the charity achieved a smoother transition to Microsoft 365 and higher user adoption across teams. Staff gained a clear understanding of the changes, felt supported throughout the process and were able to embrace cloud‑based working with confidence.

This structured, people‑first approach helped the charity maximise its investment in Microsoft 365 while supporting effective collaboration, secure working practices, and long‑term digital capability.

We continue to support the charity with our post-course support service.

Digital IT Skills Training delivered through a Construction Industry Training Programme

TCS Training was engaged to deliver a series of digital IT skills courses as part of a nationally recognised construction industry training programme designed to upskill individuals working across the sector. The initiative aimed to improve confidence and capability in everyday IT tools, supporting participants to work more efficiently and adapt to modern ways of working within construction environments.

Training was delivered to organisations of all sizes, ranging from small roofing and carpentry businesses where a single individual managed all IT, through to large construction companies.

Training Delivered

The training focused on essential workplace technology skills, with courses to suit a wide range of ability levels, from complete beginners through to more experienced users. Key areas included Microsoft 365 applications, Microsoft Project training and core Office tools, such as Microsoft Excel courses, Microsoft Word courses and Microsoft PowerPoint courses which enabled learners to improve communication, manage information effectively and work more productively both on‑site and in office‑based roles.

The IT training was delivered live online in a practical and accessible way for several organisations, while also being tailored to suit different delivery requirements. We provided IT training in Havant through in‑person sessions for group learning, delivered training courses in Plymouth on site for a large construction organisation, and visited another major construction group to deliver IT training courses in Basingstoke.

This blended approach ensured participants could clearly see how the technology and tools applied directly to their day‑to‑day roles. By delivering training in real working environments as well as live online, we helped break down common barriers associated with technology training and enabled learners to gain confidence and apply their new skills effectively.

Following the training, post‑course support was provided to help participants apply what they had learned in real working situations. This additional support played a key role in reinforcing learning outcomes and ensuring that new skills translated into practical, long‑term improvements. This was especially pertinent for some of the smaller construction companies that were carpentry, roofers, and other specialisties who needed to get to grips with their IT for bookings and admin.

It proved particularly valuable for smaller construction companies, including carpenters, roofers and other specialist trades, who needed hands‑on guidance to get to grips with everyday IT tasks such as bookings, scheduling and administrative processes. By supporting learners beyond the classroom, we helped ensure technology became a useful business tool rather than a barrier.

IT Training for Councils

TCS Training has delivered, and continues to deliver, IT training for councils across the UK, including borough, district and county councils. Our work supports public sector teams in developing strong, practical digital skills that improve efficiency, consistency and confidence in everyday tasks.

The majority of this training has been delivered in person, enabling highly interactive sessions tailored to council environments and workflows. Much of the delivery is it training in Hampshire regions, working directly with council teams on site to ensure learning is relevant and immediately applicable.

Training has focused primarily on Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, delivered from introduction through to advanced level.

By delivering tailored, in‑person training aligned with council requirements, TCS Training helped public sector teams build confidence, standardise working practices and make better use of Microsoft applications to support service delivery.

Live Online Microsoft 365 & Excel training for a University in Wales

TCS Training partnered with a UK university to deliver a comprehensive programme of live online Microsoft 365 and Excel training, designed to improve digital skills across academic and professional staff. The objective was to ensure participants could confidently use modern Microsoft tools to collaborate more effectively, streamline processes, and work with data more efficiently.

The training focused on core Microsoft 365 applications, with sessions delivered live online to provide flexibility while maintaining high levels of interaction. Courses covered key tools including Microsoft Forms, Planner, To Do, OneDrive, Bookings, Sway, Power Automate and SharePoint, enabling staff to manage tasks, automate workflows, share information securely and collaborate more effectively across teams.

In addition to Microsoft 365, comprehensive Excel training was delivered from introduction through to advanced level. This ensured learners with varying levels of experience could progress confidently, building skills in data analysis, formulas, functions, reporting and advanced Excel features aligned with real‑world university use cases.

Training Needs Analysis

To maximise impact, TCS Training conducted a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) prior to delivery. This established existing skill levels and identified learning gaps. The TNA also provided a clear baseline, enabling progress and skills development to be effectively measured throughout and after the training programme.
